A team from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has arrived in Kenya to begin discussions for a new IMF-supported program, aiming to replace a previous US$3.6 billion program that ended prematurely.
- The discussions, led by Mission Chief of Kenya Haimanot Teferra, will run from Thursday to October 9.
- The new agreement seeks to stimulate economic growth, lower the cost of living, and strengthen governance in Kenya.
- Kenya is also planning to issue a diaspora bond targeting Kenyans living abroad to raise between $250 million (Ksh32.3 billion) and $500 million (Ksh65 billion) for infrastructure needs.
