Kenya has extradited an Ivorian national wanted in the United States for conspiring to smuggle firearms. The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Renson Ingonga, confirmed the successful extradition, highlighting Kenya's commitment to international legal obligations.

• The suspect was extradited to the US on Thursday, September 25, after a formal request received on Thursday, July 24.
• The individual was indicted by a Grand Jury in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, Eastern Division, on May 28 for conspiring to illegally purchase firearms in the U.S. and export them to Côte d’Ivoire between October and November 2018.
• An Interpol Red Notice was issued against the suspect by the United States Government. The Nairobi Chief Magistrate's Court issued extradition orders on September 3.
• This extradition follows an announcement by the DPP to initiate proceedings against a British soldier accused of killing Agnes Wanjiru in 2012 in Nanyuki.
