Pay-TV companies in Kenya are experiencing a significant decline in subscriptions, primarily due to escalating monthly costs and the widespread availability of pirated content online. This trend is highlighted by recent data from the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA), showing a substantial drop in customer bases for major providers.

• GOtv saw its customer base plummet by 88.7 percent to 314,520 subscribers in June 2025.
• MultiChoice, owner of DStv and GOtv, increased prices for various packages, with DStv's Lite package rising by Sh50 to Sh700 per month and the Premium bouquet by Sh600 to Sh10,500.
• Despite a court directive for internet service providers to block pirate sports websites, illegal streaming remains prevalent, further impacting subscription numbers.
