Four law enforcement officers, including a prisons officer and three police constables, have been arrested in Kenya by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Operations Support Unit (OSU) for their alleged involvement in an illegal firearms and ammunition trade aggravating insecurity in the country. The arrests followed a period of surveillance as part of an investigation into the illicit racket.

• A total of 1,000 rounds of ammunition were intercepted, intended for Assistant Superintendent of Prisons Ekidor Lotira Charles.
• The arrested officers include Assistant Superintendent of Prisons Ekidor Lotira Charles, Corporal Isaac Kipngetich, Police Constable Ileli Cyrus Kisamwa, and Constable Samson Muriithi Mutongu.
• Officers recovered 19 assorted firearm magazines, firing pins, cleaning kits, three spent 9mm cartridges, a Remington Rand Model 1911 pistol, and two Ceska pistol firing pins during the arrests.
