Namibia is deploying helicopters and 500 soldiers to combat a massive fire that has devastated one-third of the critical Etosha National Park, a top tourist attraction and home to endangered black rhinos.

• The fire, believed to have started on Monday outside the park at a charcoal production site, has killed at least 9 antelope and destroyed habitats.
• Prime Minister Tjitunga Elijah Ngurare announced the troop deployment on X after an emergency meeting.
