Tensions are high in Nandi after police reportedly shot dead two young men during clashes over a decades-old land dispute along the Tinderet-Chemelil border on Monday morning. Hundreds of armed youth stormed a disputed parcel of land in Kimwani, demanding the eviction of families occupying land they claim was illegally seized.

• Two men, aged between 24 and 30, were fatally shot by officers from the Rapid Deployment Unit.
• The dispute centers on hundreds of acres of land allegedly allocated to the now-defunct Agricultural Development Corporation (ADC) and later to senior security officials during the administration of the late President Daniel arap Moi.
