Kenyans will now receive free emergency services under the Social Health Authority (SHA), regardless of their registration status. This initiative covers evacuation costs up to Ksh4,500 for distances within 25 kilometers and pays for the first 24 hours of emergency care nationwide.

• Mercy Mwangangi, Chief Executive Officer of SHA, announced the free services and the establishment of a National Ambulance Dispatch Centre.
• After the initial 24 hours, expenses for those registered with Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF) will be covered by SHIF, while others will pay out-of-pocket, aiming to reduce maternal, road crash, and child mortality rates.
