KMPDU Threatens Nationwide Doctors' Strike Over Kiambu Dispute - October 2025

The Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) has threatened to mobilize doctors for a nationwide strike starting this coming Monday. The threat is linked to an ongoing healthcare dispute in Kiambu County, where a doctors' strike has entered its fifth month. KMPDU alleges that over 670 people have died in Kiambu since the strike began. The union is calling for the dissolution of the county government, accusing Governor Kimani Wamatangi of neglecting the situation. KMPDU has also called for presidential intervention to resolve the Kiambu stand-off.
