A man in Nairobi has been handed a two-month jail term or a fine of Ksh30,000 after failing to pay a Ksh22,760 hotel bill incurred during a night of partying.

• Qurine Omondi Muteshi was convicted of obtaining credit by false pretense on October 3, 2025, at Vibanda Village in Upper Hill.
• He admitted to the court that he "lost control during the celebration," ordered food and drinks for himself and friends, and was left with the bill after others disappeared.
• Chief Magistrate Lucas Onyina delivered the sentence after hearing Omondi's mitigation, where he pleaded for leniency due to being "new in Nairobi."
