The International Criminal Court (ICC) has convicted Ali Muhammad Ali Abd-Al-Rahman, also known as Ali Kushayb, a feared Sudanese militia chief, for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Darfur. He was found guilty of multiple crimes including rape, murder, and torture.

• Abd-Al-Rahman was convicted for crimes committed between August 2003 and at least April 2004.
• The ICC president judge Joanna Korner stated the chamber was convinced of his guilt beyond reasonable doubt.
• He denied all charges, claiming he was not Ali Kushayb, but the court dismissed his defense.
• Abd-Al-Rahman is thought to be an ally of deposed Sudanese leader Omar al-Bashir, who is also wanted by the ICC on genocide charges but has not been handed over.
