The Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) has postponed a planned demonstration in Kiambu from October 8 to October 13, 2025, to allow for broader stakeholder participation. This rescheduling occurs as a strike by Kiambu health workers enters its fifth month and follows the redeployment of 697 medical interns from Kiambu County.

• The KMPDU also announced a nationwide strike in 19 days, condemning the Council of Governors (CoG) for its response to alleged deaths of 136 newborns in Kiambu County.
• The CoG Chair, Governor Ahmed Abdullahi, claims the Kiambu health system is functional, a claim denied by KMPDU.
• The union criticized governors’ "callous insensitivity" and "unforgivable hypocrisy" regarding the state of public healthcare, citing patients suffering in "dilapidated facilities" for 131 days.
