Gideon Moi, Chairman of the Kenya African National Union (KANU) party, has withdrawn from the Baringo Senatorial by-election after meetings with President William Ruto. This decision leaves the race open for other candidates.

• KANU Secretary General George Wainaina confirmed the party will not field a candidate.
• President Ruto reportedly appealed to Moi across three recent meetings to step aside in favor of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate.
• The senatorial seat became vacant after the death of Senator William Cheptumo on February 16.
