An armed assailant launched a bow and arrow attack at State House, Nairobi, on Monday morning, killing a General Service Unit officer and prompting a security lockdown while President William Ruto was reportedly on the premises.

• The officer, Police Constable Ramadhan Mattanka, was shot in the left ribs and later died at Kenyatta National Hospital.
