The Kenyan government now requires individuals and institutions to obtain a license for displaying fireworks during the upcoming Diwali and Hindu New Year celebrations, scheduled from October 17 to October 20, 2025.

• Applicants must seek clearance from the State Department for Mining or respective County Mining Offices.
• Fireworks displays are restricted to authorized venues and must adhere to strict operational limits, including display shells not exceeding four inches in calibre in urban areas.
• Displays are only permitted between 7pm and 11pm on authorized dates, and dealers are prohibited from selling fireworks to children under the age of 13, which is an offense under the Explosives Act, Cap 115.
