With Diwali and Hindu New Year celebrations approaching from October 17 to October 20, 2025, Mining Cabinet Secretary Ali Hassan Joho has issued new directives for the use of fireworks. These guidelines cover usage times, authorized venues, permit requirements, and the qualifications of those setting off fireworks.
- Fireworks displays are permitted only between 7 PM and 11 PM during the four-day (October 17-20) celebration period.
- The State Department for Mining or County Mining offices are responsible for issuing necessary firework permits.
- Only qualified, experienced, and sober individuals are allowed to fire aerial fireworks, with display shells limited to a maximum of four-inch calibre in urban areas, unless exempted.
- Dealers are prohibited from selling fireworks to individuals under thirteen years of age, and aerial display fireworks can only be sold to permit holders certified by an Inspector of Explosives.
