The East African Community (EAC), alongside Kenya, Uganda, and the African Development Bank (AfDB), is seeking private investment for a major expressway project linking Kenya and Uganda, with a conference scheduled for October 20-21, 2025, in Kampala.
- The project is a 193-kilometre multinational expressway connecting Kisumu–Busia in Kenya with Kakira–Malaba in Uganda.
- The AfDB funded a US$1.5 million feasibility study for a 256-kilometre section, handed over to GOPA Infra GmbH and ITEC Limited.
- This project is part of the Northern Corridor aiming to improve EAC’s 10 cross-border road corridors, a 15,000-kilometre network.
