The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) has initiated construction of the Defence Forces Welfare Services (DEFWES) Mall at Moi Barracks, Eldoret. The groundbreaking ceremony, led by Chief of the Defence Forces (CDF) General Charles Kahariri on October 14, underscores KDF's commitment to improving welfare for its personnel and their families.

The new mall will provide cost-friendly supermarkets, restaurants, and fuelling stations for KDF personnel, veterans, and their families in the Eldoret region.
The groundbreaking occurred just hours before KDF Day celebrations where President William Ruto, for the first time, wore a full military uniform.
The KDF recruitment exercise, launched by Defence Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya and running until October 25, aims to enhance the armed forces' capacity and is described as "free, fair, and open to all eligible Kenyans," with crackdowns against extortion.
