Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has reaffirmed his decision to oppose his UDA party's candidate, David Ndakwa, in the upcoming Malava Constituency by-election, opting instead to support DAP-K's Seth Panyako. Khalwale states this move is in response to President William Ruto's administration denying a UDA ticket to Ryan Injendi, son of the late Malava MP Malulu Injendi, despite granting similar opportunities to other deceased politicians' families.

• Khalwale cited that the wives of the late Baringo Senator William Cheptumo and the late lawmaker Dalmas Otieno received cabinet and state house jobs, respectively, while Ryan Injendi was overlooked.
• He accused a cabinet secretary of interfering with the campaign process and insulting him for not backing the UDA candidate.
• Ryan Injendi had previously blamed Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi for allegedly influencing the primary vote, leading to his loss of the UDA ticket to David Ndakwa.
