The West African Development Bank (BOAD) has successfully raised €1 billion through a 15-year bond issuance in international markets, marking the longest euro-denominated benchmark bond ever issued by an African Multilateral Development Bank (MDB).
- The bond issuance generated a strong order book of €2.7 billion, with the proceeds dedicated to high-impact projects within the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU).
- Serge Ekue, President of BOAD, stated that this achievement is a clear recognition of the bank’s creditworthiness despite challenging environments.
- Investors from the United Kingdom and Ireland accounted for the largest allocation at 49%, followed by DACH/German-speaking countries at 23%.
