The Kenya Meteorological Department has revised its heavy rainfall advisory, warning of intensifying rains exceeding 50mm in 24 hours across at least 30 counties, including Nairobi. This increases the risk of flooding and landslides, prompting calls for vigilance and precautionary evacuations.

• Rainfall will intensify and spread from the Lake Victoria Basin and Rift Valley to the Highlands East of the Rift and South-Eastern Lowlands starting Thursday, October 23.
• Kenya Met warns of heavy (20–50mm) to very heavy (>50mm) rainfall, accompanied by gusty winds that could damage trees, power lines, and light structures.
• Affected counties include Kisumu, Homa Bay, Siaya, Migori, Busia, Kisii, Nyamira, Nandi, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Narok, Baringo, Nakuru, Trans Nzoia, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, West Pokot, Turkana, Isiolo, Samburu, Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka Nithi, Nairobi, and parts of Kajiado, Machakos, and Makueni.
