President William Ruto has announced the creation of a new fund aimed at economically empowering single mothers and women in Kenya. This initiative will provide training and business expertise, complementing the existing NYOTA programme.

• The government plans to train 600,000 women through national and county government programmes.
• The new fund will operate under the Access to Government Procurement Opportunities (AGPO) framework, which reserves a portion of government tenders for specific groups.
• The NYOTA Programme, backed by the World Bank with Ksh20 billion, will disburse funds starting November 4, following a nationwide verification exercise beginning October 24.
