The National Land Commission (NLC) is set to acquire over 960 hectares of Kamuthe Community land in Garissa County for the Lamu Port-South Sudan-Ethiopia-Transport (LAPSSET) Corridor project. This acquisition, announced in a gazette notice, targets land for ancillary facilities of the multi-national infrastructure initiative.
- 960.67 Hectares of land will be acquired from the Kamuthe Community.
- The acquisition is for the LAPSSET Corridor Project, an infrastructure program connecting Kenya, Ethiopia, and South Sudan.
- Affected individuals are invited to inquire and submit claims at the Garissa Town DCC's office on Wednesday, December 3, from 10am.
- The NLC will also address other land acquisition matters, including deleting a parcel for the Menengai Geothermal project and hearing compensation claims for 0.31 hectares for the same project.
