The Ombudsman (Commission on Administrative Justice) has asked the Capital Markets Authority (CMA) to explain its alleged inaction regarding Uchumi Supermarkets PLC's persistent non-compliance with disclosure regulations. This follows a complaint from Francis Njoroge Wanjiku concerning the retailer's breach of market-disclosure rules.

• The complaint, dated September 9, 2025, accuses Uchumi's Board of Directors of violating CMA (Public Offers, Listings and Disclosures) Regulations, 2023.
• The CMA has been directed to respond within 14 days.
• Uchumi Supermarkets PLC reported year-to-date revenue of Sh 86.29 million for the period ending June 2025, a 67 % increase, with a market capitalization of around Sh135 million.
