Mercy Kalondu Wambua, Secretary and CEO of the Commission on Administrative Justice (CAJ), faces disciplinary action over allegations of financial mismanagement during her tenure as Executive Director of the African Ombudsman and Mediators’ Association (AOMA). She has 21 days to respond to the allegations.

• An internal audit found Wambua approved unauthorized Sh2.6 million for a trip and overseen illegal procurement of a laptop while with AOMA, leading to a loss of Sh14,434,623 in public funds.
• The Office of the Auditor General flagged potential financial mismanagement within CAJ operations for the 2023–2024 financial year.
• Allegations include authorizing irregular procurement of vehicle maintenance services costing Sh4.29 million and hospitality services totaling Sh9.58 million, with large cash payments made without proper documentation or adherence to procurement procedures.
