A Kenyan police officer has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of Dalphine Mwangi, a 22-year-old college student, in Kitale. The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) is investigating the incident which led to the student's death on October 24, 2025.

• The victim sustained a gunshot wound to the head after an argument with the officer at Norec Shopping Centre.
• IPOA has detained the officer at Kiminini Police Station for ten days to complete investigations.
• Witnesses reported that the suspect, a police officer, shot the student at close range before fleeing on a motorcycle, with two spent 9mm cartridges found at the scene.
