Kenya has heightened security along its borders with Tanzania following unrest triggered by Wednesday’s disputed general election, to prevent the spillover of violence into Kenya.

• Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo confirmed security agencies are on high alert at all border points.
• Demonstrations in solidarity with Tanzanian protesters occurred in areas like Namanga, leading to tightened security in Namanga, Taveta, Isebania, and Lunga Lunga.
• Omollo urged residents along the border to cooperate with security officers and conduct any protests within legal confines, calling the situation in Tanzania an internal matter.
