The Media Council of Kenya (MCK), alongside media stakeholders, has issued an urgent call to end impunity for crimes targeting female journalists in Kenya, highlighting the rise of Artificial Intelligence-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence.

• In 2025, MCK recorded 92 cases of crimes against journalists, a decrease from 130 in 2024, with 19 percent involving women.
• David Omwoyo, Chief Executive Officer of MCK, urged a government-led alliance to strengthen regulatory frameworks and prosecute perpetrators.
• Temesi Mukani, Information and Communication Secretary, emphasized the need for collective action and thorough investigation and prosecution of attacks to combat impunity.
