The Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC) has ordered Liquid Telecommunications Kenya Ltd to pay Andrew Alston Sh700,000 for unlawfully processing his personal data and failing to honor his right to erasure, marking a significant enforcement action under Kenya’s Data Protection Act, 2019.

• Liquid Telecom was found to have recorded and processed data without consent and continued processing one year later despite deletion requests.
• Data Commissioner Immaculate Kassait stated the company violated Section 26(a) and Section 40(1)(b) of the Act.
• The ruling includes an Enforcement Notice compelling compliance with Kenya’s data protection framework.
