Kisumu County City Manager Abala Wanga has been summoned by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) over allegations of forgery and fraudulent acquisition of public funds. He faces charges for allegedly using forged academic certificates to secure his position and for facilitating an irregular official trip to Lagos, Nigeria, for a non-staff member.

• The EACC received concurrence from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to charge Wanga with corruption-related offenses.
• Wanga is accused of using forged academic certificates for his appointment as Kisumu City Manager.
• He also allegedly used forged documents for a non-staff member to accompany him on an official trip to Lagos, Nigeria, from July 8 to 12, 2024, falsely presented as a County Government of Kisumu employee.
• The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) confirmed Wanga's primary and secondary school certificates were not authentic on January 27, 2022.
