The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has filed a police complaint at Ishiara Police Station, accusing Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua of plotting to disrupt an opposition rally in Mbeere North scheduled for Sunday, November 17, 2024. UDA alleges a scheme to ferry individuals from outside Mbeere North to cause chaos, intending to frame the ruling party.

• UDA Chairperson Cecily Mbarire stated the party received intelligence about a coordinated plan to use goons from areas such as Sagana, Kirinyaga, and Nairobi.
• The alleged plot involves distributing UDA-branded T-shirts to hired youth to implicate the ruling party and its candidate, Leonard Muthende, if violence occurs.
• UDA legal counsel Adrian Kamotho questioned DCP’s legal standing in the by-election, claiming they have no candidate and have not signed the election code of conduct.
