Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma has been awarded Ksh11 million in a defamation lawsuit against The Standard Group over a 2018 article published in The Nairobian that made "salacious allegations" and infringed on his family's privacy.

• The court ordered The Standard Group to pay Ksh11 million plus interest and costs for defamation.
• Kaluma plans to appeal for a higher amount, stating the payout is not "commensurate with the damage done to my reputation and my family."
• Of the total, Ksh10 million was awarded for infringement of the privacy of his two children, and Ksh1 million for The Nairobian's refusal to apologize.
• MP Kaluma intends to donate the awarded money to a charity of his choice.
