Josephat Gichunge Mwirabua Kabeabea, Chairman of the Anti-Counterfeit Authority, faces bribery charges for allegedly demanding and receiving a bribe from a Chinese business owner. The DPP Renson Ingonga approved the charges after an investigation by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
- Initial bribe demand was Ksh5 million, later reduced to Ksh150,000.
- Kabeabea is a former Tigania East MP (2017-2022) and was arrested on November 14 by the EACC.
