Josephat Gichunge Mwirabua Kabeabea, Chairman of the Anti-Counterfeit Authority, faces bribery charges for allegedly demanding and receiving a bribe from a Chinese business owner. The DPP Renson Ingonga approved the charges after an investigation by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).

• Initial bribe demand was Ksh5 million, later reduced to Ksh150,000.
• Kabeabea is a former Tigania East MP (2017-2022) and was arrested on November 14 by the EACC.
• He faces charges under Section 6(1)(a) as read with Section 18 of the Anti-Bribery Act, 2023, and will be arraigned at the Milimani Anti-Corruption Court on November 17.
• The suspect is also implicated in another incident, allegedly demanding Ksh10 million and receiving Ksh8 million in October.
