President William Ruto has appointed Engineer Michael Thoyah Kingi, brother of Senate Speaker Amason Kingi, to the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) for a six-year term.

• Michael Thoyah Kingi's appointment was published in the November 14 issue of the Kenya Gazette.
• The appointment faced controversy due to Kingi’s familial relationship with the Senate Speaker and his past political affiliations, having served as MP for the Magarini Constituency from 2017 to 2022.
• During his vetting on October 21, Kingi denied claims of being on the ballot for the upcoming Magarini by-election, stating he had left political parties after the 2022 election.
