Several individuals operating illegal liquor stores in Dagoretti South, Nairobi, have been arrested after allegedly hiring goons to attack county government officers. This incident occurred when officers visited the premises to ensure compliance, following numerous noise complaints from residents.

• The arrests were confirmed by Nairobi Chief Officer for the Environment Geoffrey Mosiria.
• The supervisor of the store is expected to be arraigned in court soon.
• The crackdown is part of Nairobi County Government's reinforced efforts against businesses non-compliant with environmental regulations, including noise and waste pollution.
• Separately, Mosiria issued a warning against illegal waste burning, which carries a penalty of not less than Ksh 500,000 or a minimum of six months' imprisonment.
