Yacine Minda Diouf established the Kayam Centre in 2022 in Pikine district, Senegal, to provide refuge and support for survivors of domestic violence, addressing a significant societal void and offering rehabilitation and training.

• A recent Senegalese National Agency for Statistics and Demography survey (2023-2024) found that over one-third (31.9%) of women aged 15 or over in Senegal experienced some form of violence within 12 months, with 89.2% reporting violence in their lifetime.
• The Kayam Centre, directed by survivor Béatrice Yolande Badiane, offers protection, psychological support, and artisanal training, accommodating up to 31 victims, including pregnant women and their babies.
• The center focuses on women's empowerment through income-generating activities and self-sufficiency, becoming a vital resource in West Africa, serving women from Senegal, Liberia, Sierra Leone, and The Gambia.
