The African Union Commission (AUC) has urged African governments, development partners, private sector players, and research institutions to collaborate for digital agriculture acceleration, during the inaugural AU Conference on Digital Agriculture. This initiative aims to transform agri-food systems through technology, innovation, and climate-smart practices, which is considered a necessity for Africa's economic survival and prosperity.

• The conference, themed "Shaping Agricultural Policy for Africa’s Future: Digital Innovations, Climate-Smart Practices for Agri-Food System Transformation," seeks to modernize Africa’s agricultural sector, which supports over 60 percent of the continent’s population.
• AUC Deputy Chairperson Amb. Selma Malika Haddadi stressed that collaboration across borders is crucial for digital agriculture to thrive, especially given challenges like climate change, limited market access, and post-harvest losses.
• Key continental frameworks, including the Digital Transformation Strategy for Africa (2020–2030) and the Science, Technology and Innovation Strategy for Africa (STISA-2024), guide this push for expanded digital infrastructure and data governance.
