Kenya and Uganda have reaffirmed their commitment to eliminating Non-Tariff Barriers (NTBs) and boosting cross-border trade, following a joint technical review of border posts. The review noted significant improvements in operations, leading to faster clearance processes.

A Joint Technical Committee (JTC) convened in Mbale, Uganda, to evaluate a bilateral communiqué.
The co-leads were Joseah Rotich from Kenya's State Department for Trade and Richard Okot Okello from Uganda’s Department of External Trade.
Improvements observed at Busia, Malaba, and Lwakhakha One Stop Border Posts (OSBPs) include reduced queues and faster cargo and passenger clearance due to 24-hour OSBP operations.
