The 66-kilometre Ngong–Suswa Highway has finally been completed and opened to the public after years of delays and funding setbacks. Launched in 2018, the highway offers a crucial alternative route out of Nairobi, aiming to ease traffic on the congested Nairobi–Mai Mahiu and Narok corridors.

• The Sh4 billion project was initially slated for completion within 42 months but faced an abandonment by its contractor in 2020 due to financial constraints.
• The State Department of Roads announced the full operational status of the highway, which had reached 88 percent completion by December 2024 according to the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KURA).
• The new corridor provides motorists with a scenic and less stressful alternative to Narok, Bomet, Kericho, Kisii, Nyamira, and the wider Nyanza region, aligning with President William Ruto's infrastructure priorities.
