The Ministry of Transport has set June 2027 as the new deadline for the completion of the multi-billion-shilling Nairobi-Nakuru highway project, aiming to alleviate severe traffic congestion on the crucial transport route.
- Transport Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir announced the revised deadline on Wednesday, February 11, stating that construction works will intensify starting next month.
- The project will deploy 12 subcontractors for the Rironi-Gilgil section and another 12 for the Gilgil-Mau Summit stretch.
- The first phase from Rironi to Naivasha is expected to open for motorists by the end of August this year.
