The National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) has ordered the immediate shutdown of eight popular entertainment venues across Kenya due to persistent noise pollution violations. This strong enforcement action follows months of warnings and ignored Environmental Restoration Orders.

• Eight establishments, including Kettle House and Bar Next Door in Nairobi, and Infusion Lounge in Kiambu, were closed.
• NEMA reported a 38 percent increase in noise-related complaints over the past two years.
• For reopening, venues must complete an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), acquire a valid environmental license, and install adequate soundproofing.
