Nairobi property owners received a reprieve as Governor Johnson Sakaja's administration launched a six-month amnesty program for registering unauthorized buildings without penalties. This initiative aims to regularize unapproved developments as part of the Nairobi Development Regulations of 2025.

• The amnesty allows registration for both completed and under-construction unlawful developments.
• Applications must be submitted within 6 months via the Nairobi Planning and Development Management System (NPDMS) or in person.
• Excluded from registration are developments on riparian zones, public lands, protected areas, unsafe structures, and those violating court orders.
• Applications require certification by registered professionals such as planners, architects, and engineers, with accountability for false submissions.
