Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has intervened to rescue a young woman reportedly assaulted and filmed by her ex-boyfriend in Mwiki, Nairobi City County. The victim, left traumatized and considering suicide, was living in fear before Sonko's team tracked her down.

The suspect, who allegedly tied up, defiled, and filmed the victim before setting her house ablaze, was initially arrested but mysteriously released by police.
Mike Sonko assured the victim and her friend of protection, pledging to pursue justice relentlessly and prevent the case from being swept aside.
Detectives have since re-arrested the suspect, who faces multiple charges including grievous harm, arson, and threatening to kill.
