A new report by the Sudan Witness Project reveals that the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) have conducted airstrikes resulting in the deaths of at least 1,700 civilians through attacks on residential areas, markets, and schools since April 2023.

The investigation documented 384 airstrikes by the SAF, using unguided bombs in populated areas, between April 2023 and July 2025.
The Sudan Witness Project, an initiative by the Center for Information Resilience (CIR), compiled the largest known dataset of military airstrikes in the conflict.
In one troubling instance, an unguided SH-250 munition was confirmed to have struck the Zamzam camp for displaced people in North Darfur.
