A 56-year-old man in Nyali, Mombasa County, is recovering from a gunshot wound he claims he sustained after being shot by police officers on patrol on October 15.

• The victim, Omar Ali, alleges police officers returned a month later with a lawyer, forcing him to sign a document and leaving behind a package containing fifty thousand shillings.
• Omar Ali was allegedly shot in his right thigh and taken to Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital before being discharged and abandoned at his home.
• He is now calling on the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) to investigate the incident after his attempts to report the matter to the police were unsuccessful.
