The Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) is accusing the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) of failing to implement promises made by President William Ruto, including teacher promotions and affordable housing.
- President Ruto promised to promote 50,000 teachers annually, double the previous number of 25,000, and allocate 20 per cent of affordable houses to teachers.
- KUPPET Secretary-General Akelo Misori stated that TSC has not made funding requests to Parliament for the additional 25,000 promotions, nor has it convened a technical committee to review job descriptions.
- The union is concerned about the absence of updates regarding the reduction of the 2025-2029 CBA cycle to two years and has written to Housing PS Charles Hinga about the housing allocations, awaiting a response by January.
