The Kenyan government has extended a dusk-to-dawn curfew in 13 areas of Marsabit County for an additional 30 days, effective December 23, 2025, due to persistent security concerns. The decision, made by Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, aims to restore law and order and protect lives and property in the region.

• The curfew will run from 6.30 p.m. to 6.00 a.m. daily.
• The extension follows consultations with the National Security Council and is anchored in Section 106 (6) of the National Police Service Act, 2011.
• Affected areas include Hillo Gorgora, Hillo Orofa, and Hillo Tanzania, among others.
