The Kenyan government has prohibited the possession of arms in specific "security disturbed and dangerous" areas of Marsabit County to combat insecurity.

• All residents in the designated areas must immediately surrender any arms to the nearest police station or National Government Administration office.
• The ban was imposed by Inspector-General of the National Police Service Douglas Kanja, under powers granted by Section 106(2)(a) of the National Police Service Act, 2011.
• The affected areas include Hillo Gorgora, Hillo Orofa, and Hillo Tanzania, among others, with surrendered arms to be returned upon revocation of the notice.
