The Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists, and Dentists Union (KMPDU) and Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH) have signed a Recognition Agreement, formalizing KMPDU's role in the hospital's transition to a Level 6 national referral facility. This agreement establishes a structured framework for engagement as JOOTRH expands its mandate.

• The agreement was signed by Secretary General Dr. Davji Bhimji Atellah (KMPDU) and CEO Dr. Joshua Clinton Okise (JOOTRH).
• KMPDU raised concerns about locum doctors transitioning to Permanent and Pensionable (PnP) positions.
• A Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) is to be concluded within 120 days, with KMPDU submitting a draft within one month.
• February 2026 is the target for completing staff transitions and harmonizing salary structures.
