Two individuals died and several others were injured in a stampede at Busia Governor Paul Otuoma’s home during a Christmas gifting event on December 23. Families of the deceased are demanding an investigation into the tragedy that occurred while residents vied for promised gifts.

• The deceased were an 81-year-old woman and a 67-year-old man living with disabilities.
• The event turned chaotic when residents began challenging each other for food, leading to the stampede.
