Motorists using the new Rironi–Mau Summit Highway will pay Ksh1,400 for the full 175-kilometre journey, according to Principal Secretary of Interior and National Administration, Raymond Omollo. The highway, expected to be completed by 2027, aims to ease traffic and improve trade routes from Mombasa to Western Kenya and beyond.
- The toll road will charge Ksh8 per kilometre for small cars, with different rates for trucks and buses.
- PS Omollo confirmed that alternative routes will be available, similar to the Nairobi Expressway.
- The Ksh200 billion project will feature a four-lane dual road from Rironi to Naivasha, expanding to six lanes from Naivasha to Nakuru, and becoming a four-lane highway to Mau Summit.
